Working with food pantries in the neighborhood, we ask the food recipients to cook food from their culture for 10 people and bring them to the pantry to distribute to others. The preparers will get the cost reimbursement and stipends for the preparation. The lucky few who get the home cooked food can enjoy authentic flavor of other culture.
Through the food, we learn the diversity of our neighborhood and be aware of the people who were previously invisible, even though they existed.
Pilot was done on March 4, 2021, at Hour Children's Community Pantry. The project was well received, but there are several points need to be revised in order to ensure successful outcome. We will keep it posted.
